The bomb slot at the top of this room has no practical function aside from setting a timer, despite what the game may lead you to believe. It is possible to simply get near the bomb slot, and that is enough to change the flow of the pipes. This is because there is a trigger near the top that already changes the flow of the pipes without having to use the bomb slot.
