Research Entrance is a room located in the Pirate Labs portion of the Phendrana Drifts region of Metroid Prime.

Defeating the enemies in this room to unlock the doors disables layer "1st Pass - special encounter" in this room. It also disables layer "1st Pass Music" in Ruined Courtyard and enables layer "1.5 Pass Music" in that room.
Acquiring the Thermal Visor in Research Core enables layers "FOG" and "2nd Pass - shadow Pirates" in this room.
