Exterior Docking Hangar is a room located in the Space Pirate Frigate in Metroid Prime. It is the first room in the game.

Defeating the Parasite Queen and passing through Reactor Core disables the "Intro Opening", "POI", and "Crates" layers in this room, and enables the "Intro Closing" layer.
Passing through Deck Alpha Mech Shaft also enables the "Intro Closing" layer in this room.
Layer 1: Intro (01a Intro Opening)
This is the start of the run. Timer begins once first-person camera fades in and control is gained.
Hitting the 1st set of targets fast
Strategy 1
- Walk forward, begin mashing A to hit first (bottom right) target.
- Hold R and move up to 2nd (top right) target.
- Move left and keep cursor up to hit 3rd (top left) target.
- Release R and walk forward to hit 4th (bottom left) target.
Your first scan
After hitting the final target, jump to the approximate spot shown in the picture. Scan the target ahead while moving forward, scan dashing forward-left at the last moment to ensure you're close enough to the target that Samus is teleported right next to it for the cutscene (which is also where you'll be once you gain control).
If you're not close enough, Samus will disappear for the cutscene and you won't be teleported forward when you regain control.
Hitting the 2nd set of targets fast
Strategy 1
- Lock on to bottom left target and begin mashing A.
- The instant the bottom left target is hit, lock on to the 2nd.
- Repeat for 3rd target.
- Aim with R above the topmost target to the right and lock on. You must aim above it to ensure you don't lock on to the middle one first.
- Release L and let your cursor drop down to the next target before locking on again.
Get inside
Strategy 1
- L-jump past targets.
- Look to the left towards your ship, lock on with the scan visor.
- Do one normal dash right followed by a scan dash right.
- Turn right while jumping with R.
- Shoot door and morph.
- Unmorph while 3/4 through room (when floor goes from dark gray to gray.
- Shoot door and get scan visor out.
Layer 2: Escape! (02 Intro Closing)
This layer is active once you defeat the Parasite Queen in Reactor Core or pass through Deck Alpha Mech Shaft during the escape sequence.
- Move forward to activate cutscene.
- You will regain control in Tallon Overworld's Landing Site.
