Burning Trail is a room in the Magmoor Caverns region of Metroid Prime.
Speed Tech
There are a few things to note regarding this room. First of all, if one flicks back on the control stick quickly enough just before falling off of the top ledge, then holds forward just before hitting the ground, the player can bounce forwards and start rolling at a faster initial speed. This saves time in both distance and time required to build speed. When turning the corner after the save door, sharper, acute angles will save time over longer, obtuse ones.
JustinDM had found an Instant Unmorph useful for Segmented runs, which save here after Artifact of Wild / Varia Suit.
He also contributed to timing the roll-jump version of the latter half of the room to unmorphing and jumping normally.
Secret World
At the top of Burning Trail, do a constricted L-Jump to the light-like apparatus in front of you. Your jump will hit the ceiling, so be ready for that. When you're on the light, turn around and lock your view at the most prominent looking branch. Jump and push yourself into it. Then at random rock your stick back and fourth and you will eventually pop through the level.
You can also do this without Space Jump, and is the only required Secret World to complete 21%. Do a double bomb jump onto the light fixture, then carefully align yourself and Ghetto Jump backwards, slightly to the left, then toward your right and forward into the branch. Once stuck, the process is the same and you flick your stick backwards to slip out of bounds.
