The Frigate Orpheon was likely the first area created in Metroid Prime's development, and as a result, it contains some odd methods of connecting rooms not seen elsewhere in the game. During the Frigate Escape sequence, a hatch blasts open connecting Biotech Research Area 1 to Subventilation Shaft Section A. This connection site does contain any sort of door, and therefore, during the time it takes Subventilation Shaft Section A to load, there is an open hole leading straight out of bounds at this doorway, not blocked by anything.
