GFMC Compound is a room located in the Temple Grounds region of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. It contains the Missile Launcher, the first item that Samus is intended to get in the game's intended sequence, as well as a missile expansion that spawns on top of the G.F.S. Tyr after defeating Jump Guardian. It also has a way of getting Cannon Ball from using the Kinetic Orb cannon in the room. The door to Fortress Transport Access is blocked by an "Emerald" Translator door, which is actually a Violet Translator door.

When the room is first loaded, the "Emerald" Translator door and the Kinetic Orb cannon will not exist until the player triggers the cutscene, which depicts the Federation soldiers being invaded by a swarm of Dark Splinters. Once the cutscene is triggered, these two objects will then appear permanently. This means it is possible for Samus to enter Sanctuary Fortress before even getting her first item, but unless she has Boost Ball, she won't get very far.

Inside the G.F.S. Tyr is a map station and several scans denoting the various crew members. Not much else of practical interest exists within the ship itself.

Early Missile Launcher

By performing a somewhat precise Slope Jump, Samus can get on top of the hill that leads to Sacred Bridge. From here, the cutscene trigger can be skipped, allowing for the Missile Launcher to be grabbed early. If the cutscene is triggered afterwards, the Missile Launcher will spawn again, which allows for Samus to have 10 missiles going into the Dark Alpha Splinter fight.

This can also be done on the Trilogy version of the game.

Alternate Method

This method takes advantage of an extended dash, eliminating the need for the Slope Jump.

Trilogy Version Method

On the Trilogy version of Echoes, a specific setup involving a distant scan is used to increase consistency.

G.F.S. Tyr Missile Expansion

Using an Extended Dash, it is possible to get this room's missile expansion without the Space Jump Boots.

Secret World

By performing a Screw Attack in the morph ball tunnel that lies between the doors to Sacred Bridge and Windchamber Tunnel, it is possible to get out of bounds. Because the room's box is so big, it takes a while to get back up once Samus has fallen to the bottom.
