Monitor Station is a room located in the Magmoor Caverns region of Metroid Prime. It is a large room consisting of multiple parts. In the center of the room is the "station" in question, which the rest of the room revolves around. Below are a set of three Turrets and some crates. There are also a set of platforms that lead into the inside of the station, which leads to Transport Tunnel A. On the way, there is another platform that leads to the top section of the room, which leads to Warrior Shrine, the room containing the Artifact of Strength. In the game's intended route, you are supposed to have Boost Ball to get to this room, but that can be easily bypassed. Additionally, this room also has a Secret World.

Because this is a complex room, movement within this room can get very complicated. There are many additional standable spots which can be used to bypass otherwise large sections of the room which can take a lot of time.

Climbing Monitor Station from Monitor Tunnel

Any%

During any%, you will first encounter this room from Monitor Tunnel, and will need to quickly get to Transport Tunnel A in order to get to Phendrana. There are three fast methods of doing this. In the video, they are shown in the order from fastest to slowest, as well as hardest to easiest.

Fastest Strat

  • It is recommended that you freeze/kill the Turret for this strat, otherwise it can knock you off.
  • After freezing the Turret, you want to lock onto the Puffer and then perform a Slope Jump onto the top rock behind you.
  • Once you're at the top, do a well performed R-Dash and bend it up-left near the start, then hold up towards the end of the dash.
  • Once you're on the bridge, you can do an optional second dash off of the Puffer down below.

Second Fastest Strat

This is almost the same speed as the fastest strat; they are within a second of each other.

  • You do not have to kill the Turret for this, but you can accidentally lock onto it sometimes.
  • Ghetto onto the ledge on the right side as shown, then jump and turn around.
  • Do an R-Dash and bend it forwards. This is very lenient compared to the fastest method.

Third Fastest Strat

This strat avoids the use of dashing altogether, and is recommended if you are not confident in your ability to dash yet.

  • You can completely ignore the Turret for this.
  • Follow the same path as the second strat, but just keep jumping along the walls until you get to the door.

Low%

In Low%, you will not have the Space Jump Boots, which makes performing the Slope Jump onto the rocks not an option. This alternate method provided in the video below is only a few seconds slower than the any% method.

Climbing Monitor Station from Shore Tunnel

Whereas other routes will usually climb this room from Monitor Tunnel, being able to get to Transport Tunnel A from the room Shore Tunnel will be necessary when doing a VMR run. Depending on how many Energy Tanks that you have, navigating this room quickly can be critical, as it is the last major barrier that can make or break your chances of getting to Phendrana.

Low%

To Artifact of Strength

In the game's intended route, Boost Ball is required in order to get to Warrior Shrine, the room that has the Artifact of Strength. By using a Scan Dash, this can be avoided.

Alternate Strat

R-Jump Strat

Though slower, an R-Jump can also be used to skip the Boost Ball

No Space Jump

It is also possible to do this without the Space Jump Boots. There are two methods of getting to Warrior Shrine without SJ.

Bomb Jump Method

This is the simplest and easiest method of getting to the top of the room. Simply bomb jump on to the platform near Transport Tunnel A, then again onto the top level. From there, simply dash as you would normally.

Without Bombs

This method takes advantage of a bunch of the standable collision on the side of the station. Using that, it is possible to climb to the top.

Secret World

Infinite Boost

Use an infinite boost to get out bounds in this room.

Floaty Jump Method

It is also possible to do this secret world with Floaty Jump. Use Floaty Jump to scale the walls and leave the area in a way you'd normally not be able to clear.
