Hive Chamber B is a room located in the Splinter Hive portion of the Temple Grounds region of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. It contains a missile expansion, and is otherwise notable for being the room in which the item loss sequence takes place.

Immediately upon first transitioning into this room, a cutscene is triggered that forces the player to walk into an unavoidable portal. This portal takes us to Portal Site, which is just a room with a cutscene. Returning from this room reloads the Hive Chamber B, spawning the missile expansion and forcing us to lose the Space Jump Boots, Morph Ball Bombs, Boost Ball, Spider Ball, and missiles in a normal playthrough. Additionally, the game will tell you that you've also lost your Power Bombs and Grapple Beam, despite that you don't have those items when starting the game. However, the game actually removes all collected items from Samus' inventory during this sequence, regardless of what has been collected, meaning that it's possible to permanently lose access to critical items and even make it impossible to beat the game.

Because the missile expansion in this room only spawns when the room is reloaded, it is required to initiate the item loss sequence in order to fulfill the requirements for completing a 100% speedrun. The sequence is also used in 4% speedruns to remove all previously obtained items from Samus' inventory.

Early Missiles

While it is impossible to avoid the item loss sequence entirely in 100% conditions, it is possible to grab the missile expansion in the room immediately after the item loss sequence is finished. This is done by performing the secret world in Hive Chamber A and proceeding to wallcrawl to Hive Chamber B. You want to be standing behind the door when the room loads to get back inbounds. While the room is invisible, navigate your way to where the cover that hides the missile would be, and use your Morph Ball Bombs to destroy it. If successful, the cover will be destroyed after transitioning and you will be able to get the Missiles after the item loss sequence is over.

Secret World

By using a cancelled Screw Attack it is possible to clip Out of Bounds in the tunnel. Unfortunately, this does not help solve ILS for 100%.
