Dark Alpha Splinter is a mini-boss found in Temple Sanctuary in Great Temple. It guards the Energy Transfer Module. It first appears as a regular Alpha Splinter after a small horde of Dark Splinters is killed. When the regular Alpha Splinter reaches a certain health threshold, it will be transformed into the Dark Alpha Splinter and the health bar will appear.

General Information

If the regular Alpha Splinter is killed before it has the chance to turn into Dark Alpha Splinter (using, for example, a Power Bomb) then the fight will never officially "end" and the player will have to leave the arena to continue.

With an item such as the Space Jump Boots, skipping this boss is trivially easy to do in most categories. Leaving the room and reloading it will skip the fight at the cost of making the Energy Transfer Module unobtainable. Since Item Loss Skip is impossible to perform in 100% speedruns, this boss is mandatory in the 100% category. There is no known way to skip this fight with the item restrictions that 100% speedruns enter the fight with.
